Two Ocean Reef Chamber of Commerce Board Members, Juan Perez and Yael Skinner, stepped into the spotlight on Monday, February 16, as they took to the runway for the 21st Annual Catwalk Event: Paws and Couture, a beloved community tradition benefiting the Grayvik Animal Center, home to ORCAT.
The event brought together animal lovers, advocates, and rescue organizations in support of animal welfare, blending fashion, fun, and philanthropy for a meaningful cause.
Adding to the impact, JetWag Animal Rescue, operated by Ocean Reef Club Member Alex Lovett-Woodsum, was well represented at the event. Lovett-Woodsum and her rescue partner, Renee Portnoy, attended with three rescue dogs, each of whom proudly walked the runway and helped highlight the life-saving work of rescue organizations across South Florida.
The afternoon ended with a very special outcome: one of those rescue dogs found her forever home. I am honored to share that I adopted Sylvie, a 10-year-old miniature Schnauzer who was pulled from Miami-Dade Animal Services by JetWag Animal Rescue. Sylvie now has a loving home, proving once again that events like Paws and Couture do far more than raise awareness—they change lives.
The Ocean Reef Chamber is proud to celebrate our board members, club members, and nonprofit organizations who continue to show up for causes that strengthen both our community and our compassion.
